Mental Health Therapy

Meet Lindsey Selland,

MA, LMHC

Mental Health Therapist

As we move through our lives, there are times where we may feel disconnected or at odds with ourselves or the world around us.

At a young age, I knew that I wanted to find a career that allowed me to help others find healing and connection. After one psychology class in high school, I decided to pursue a career in counseling. My experiences as a teenager and young adult brought an even deeper passion for helping others navigate the challenges of life and find meaning in the world.

After finishing my college education, I spent time working within the realm of animal rescue, nursing animals back to health after neglect and cruelty. This time served as a space to explore, grow, and develop my values further. I found a depth of understanding about the connection humans have to animals and the natural world and experienced first-hand how this connection benefited the mental health and well-being of people.

My career in counseling has given me experience in both outpatient and inpatient therapy. I work with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, relational issues, neurodivergance, substance use, life stressors and transitions, grief, and trauma related to sexual abuse, narcissistic abuse, and PTSD.  I also have several years of specialized experience working with adolescents and young adults with technology, gaming, and pornography addictions. This work has given me a deep passion for helping people moderate their use of tech to reconnect with the world around them and reclaim joy in their lives.

My role as a counselor is to help my clients find healing and acceptance for all parts of themselves. My approach is one of curiosity, empowerment, and growth that aligns with each person’s needs and goals. Therapeutically, I lean heavily on a client-centered lens, and utilize modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.

I believe the most meaningful therapeutic work occurs when people experience an environment of safety and acceptance while simultaneously being encouraged and challenged. I view therapy as an important journey that you and I are embarking on and I feel deeply honored to be able to walk with you!
